LEARNING, CREATING, AND SHARING THE PROCESS—ONE NOTE AT A TIME

My Story
Hi, I’m Sophie! I’m a violinist, music-lover, and teacher. I have been playing or listening to music almost nonstop since I first picked up the violin when I was 6. Now, 11 years later, I’m involved in multiple music groups and orchestras, as well as expanding my skills by learning new instruments like the guitar, drums, and bass.
Having played violin for so long, I love sharing tips about technique, avoiding burnout, and how I would move forward either as a beginner just starting lessons, to teens prepping for college auditions (like I am). I also use this space to document what I’m learning and put my advice into practice, from advanced violin to my journey of just beginning guitar and drums, and to share the real moments of progress, frustration, and joy that come with growing as a musician.
Mission
My goal is to make learning music feel approachable and motivating — not intimidating.
Here, you’ll find practice tips that actually work, realistic ways to stay confident through rough patches, and insights I pick up while balancing music, school, and life.
Whether you play violin, guitar, or any other instrument, I want Strings with Soph to be a space that inspires you to keep playing, keep learning, and develop a greater love for music.
